Capt. John B. White Jr. served with the 93rd Bomb Group and was aboard B-24D 42-40609 on the August 1, 1943 low-level mission to the Ploesti oil refineries in Romania. The aircraft was lost on that mission and his status was listed as unknown on the MACR.
Next of kin listed for White included Mrs. Lucille S. White (wife), 197 West First Street, Walesburg, Colorado, and Mr. John B. White (father), 201 St. Louis Street, Milwaukee, Illinois.
