George L. Jeffrey.

Staff Sergeant George L. Jeffrey (serial 15071093), born 17 May 1921, served with the 93rd Bomb Group and was killed in action following the 13 November 1943 mission. His body was recovered on 14 November 1943, washed ashore at Norddorf on the Isle of Amrum.

He was described as approximately 6 feet tall, of strong build. The German report could not conclusively determine whether death resulted from drowning or wounds, as his head had been severely injured. His clothing included a tricot undershirt, a brown army shirt, a light-blue electrically heated flying suit, greenish khaki army trousers, and a leather fur jacket. Two identification tags were found on his person, confirming his identity.

Personal effects included a military pass (No. 723457) with photograph, a billfold, three photographs, a broken wristwatch, a broken comb, a tobacco pouch, a small compass, an escape bag, four escape maps, and Belgian, French, and Dutch currency along with three English pound notes and 12 foreign coins. He was buried at the New Cemetery of Nebel on the Isle of Amrum, Grave No. 55.
