T/Sgt. Benjamin C. Wiegand was a crew member assigned to the 409th Bomb Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group. He was killed in the crash of 19 December 1944. The 3rd Indorsement (page 7) of his casualty file misspells his hometown as 'West Unice'; the correct name is West Union, Ohio.
Wiegand was killed in action on 19 December 1944. His next of kin was listed as Mrs. Margaret S. Wiegand (wife), of West Union, Ohio.
