Departed Topeka, KS in August 1944 to join 93rd Bomb Group, 328th Sqdn. at Hardwick Airdrome, Norfolk, England. Completed over 25 missions to Germany; crew was sent for R&R at an English mansion.
On their 30th mission (Feb. 3, 1945), No. 3 engine developed problems and the aircraft was hit by flak. As the plane lost altitude rapidly, the order to bail out was given. Six crew members bailed out but some — including Bill — were too close to the ground for their parachutes to open and were killed. Three crew members survived and became POWs. He was killed in action on Feb. 3, 1945, age 23.

Born April 7, 1921 in Northern Wisconsin. Joined the Army in 1942; commissioned as a pilot at Blackland Air Base, TX; advanced to Liberator bomber pilot. Married Iris Thompson of Waco on July 9, 1944 in El Paso.
Son William (Bill) Lozowski is a scientific specialist for Cyclotron Targets at the University of Indiana; has two daughters, Dana and Jennifer. Yearbook entry written and submitted by his niece, Carol Lozowski Gerard. Remains temporarily buried in Benthe, Germany; later returned to Weyerhauser, WI.
