Enlisted USAAC Sept. 23, 1941. Assigned to 328th Bomb Sqdn., 93rd Bomb Group as radio operator. Participated in anti-submarine patrols during summer before group was assigned to 8th AF.
As crew member of Eager Beaver, joined in the first squadron formation crossing of the North Atlantic in September. Entered combat Nov. 9, 1942; completed 31 missions from bases in the UK, Northern Africa, and Libya.

Born May 8, 1923 in Springfield Center, NY. Enlisted in USAAC Sept. 23, 1941. Attended AF Technical School at Scott Field, IL, graduating April 4, 1942.
Returned to the U.S. in September 1943 and served as an instructor until war's end at Langley, Davis Monthan, and Alamogordo — head of Communications Flight Training at Alamogordo. Discharged Sept. 21, 1945. Continued interest in aviation led to a private pilot's license. Retired from electronic sales and service business in 1985. Married Benetta F. Gaskin on Oct. 24, 1947. Two daughters and four grandchildren.
