Born July 7, 1916 in Georgetown, KY. Called to active duty in 1941 as an infantry lieutenant. Transferred to flight training; received wings with Class 43-H.
After tour, remained in England ferrying aircraft (P-51s to B-17s); married a Russian-Latvian refugee before returning to the U.S. Left service 1945. Recalled for Korean War; flew B-29s then flew L-5s in Korea. Flew KC-97 tankers with SAC; later flew C-130s in combat in Vietnam. Retired 1969 as lieutenant colonel with three Distinguished Flying Crosses and seven Air Medals. Traveled extensively, visited 85 countries and island groups. Resides in Holyoke, MA.
