The man.
Bamford attended Radio Operator School at Scott Field, IL; Radio Mechanic School at Madison, WI; Radar Mechanic School at Boca Raton, FL; and Radar Trainer School at Langley Field, VA. From June 1944 until June 1945 he was stationed at Alconbury, England with the 482nd Bomb Group, then transferred to Hardwick, England with the 93rd Bomb Group (B-24s). He served as supervisor of the Mickey Radar Trainer Section.
He was honorably discharged on November 3, 1945 with the rank of sergeant. He then obtained a BA degree from the University of Missouri and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the very first class of Air Force ROTC in June 1948. He graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 1951 and served in the Reserve and Texas Air National Guard from 1946 until 1980, holding positions including Wing Staff Judge Advocate, State Judge Advocate General of Texas, and Chief Judge of the Texas Court of Military Appeals. He retired from the Air Force Reserve as a colonel in 1980.

Bamford practiced law in Dallas, TX from 1951 onward and continued to serve as judge of the Texas Court of Military Appeals. He married Ina E. Ellis on September 8, 1956 and had two sons, one daughter, and five grandchildren.
