The man.
Assigned to 409th Sqdn., 93rd Bomb Group at Hardwick, England in summer 1944. Flew combat as flight engineer and upper Martin turret gunner aboard B-24s Gambling Lady and Tabasco Keeds from Sept. 18, 1944 to March 21, 1945. Completed 35 bombing missions in "Ted's Flying Circus."

Born March 11, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA. Joined USAAC in 1940. Trained in airplane mechanics at Casey Jones School of Aeronautics, Newark, NJ and Pratt & Whitney Engine School, Flint, MI. Volunteered for flying duty; sent to Biggs Field, TX for crew assignment and overseas training.
Completed 35 missions; never shot down or seriously injured. Kept a diary of combat missions which was published. Received Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters. Married Betty Cherner on June 25, 1948; three sons, four granddaughters.
