Born April 7, 1920; raised in California. Graduated Kelly Field navigation training in June 1942.
Completed first combat tour April 5, 1943 (among first to finish) then assigned as staff navigator at 2nd Air Division HQ. Deployed to Pacific as staff navigator for 73rd Bomb Wing HQ (B-29s) in 1944. Graduated from University of California; accepted regular commission in 1947. Post-war career included flying training, SAC HQ, Bomber Command HQ (Korean War), Air Force HQ, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Pacific Air Force HQ, Director of Nuclear Field Operations at Kirtland AFB, Director of Program Control for the Minuteman Missile System. Retired 1970 as colonel. Awards: Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal, Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; ETO (three battle stars), Pacific (three battle stars), Korean War campaign ribbons. Resides in Kailua, HI with wife Esther.
