Assigned to 93rd Bomb Group, 330th Sqdn. at Hardwick, England as bombsight and autopilot mechanic. Served 28 months overseas with the 8th Air Force. Memorable experience: witnessing the D-Day air armada and later flying over Germany after the surrender to see the total destruction of the cities.

Born Nov. 4, 1923 in Omaha, NE. Enlisted in USAAF June 19, 1942 as bombsight and autopilot mechanic. Training at Lowry Field, CO; Patterson Field, OH; Grenier Field, NH.
Discharged Sept. 16, 1945 as staff sergeant. Received Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and 11 Campaign Battle Stars. Flew home to the States on May 22, 1945 in a B-24H Liberator, landing at Bradley Field, Windsor Locks, CT. Married; five children, many grandchildren. Retired 1990. Flies his Beech Sport for fun; attended conventions; visited London and Hardwick in May 1990.
