§ Biography
1st Lt. Robert W. Marx served as pilot assigned to the 409th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group. On the morning of 19 December 1944, at approximately 1000 hours, his aircraft crashed near the field a few seconds after leaving the runway. Fog was thick and instruments were used on takeoff.
When the aircraft crashed, some of the RDX bombs exploded, killing the entire crew. Marx was killed in action on 19 December 1944.
