The man.
In May 1942 transferred to army base close to New York City where four troop ships were boarded for Ireland, then on train to England. Staging area for two months repairing guns, then sent to 2nd Air Div., 8th Air Force, 330th Sqdn., 93rd Bomb Group on flight line on B-24 bombers close to Norwich, England. Then to Africa in 1943 and back to the States in October 1944.
Retired on June 30, 1959 after 21 years. Received the Good Conduct Award (6th), United States Defense Medal with five stars, American Campaign Ribbon, European Theater with 10 stars, WWII Victory Ribbon, Occupation Japan 1946, National Defense Ribbon, Air Force Longevity (five awards), Aerial Engineer Wings, plus more.

Born on Nov. 23, 1910 in Pennsylvania. Enlisted in 6th Field Artillery on May 15, 1938, then USAAF. Sent to Bolling Field, TX on flight line mechanic on B-18A two-engine bomber until June 1941, then to Sheppard Field, TX about October 1941 to give training to new enlistees.
