T/Sgt R. E. Richardson served as radio operator on the Ploesti mission of August 1, 1943, with the 329th Bomb Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group.
His fate following the aircraft loss was not known to T/Sgt Reed. Reed believed the crew members were likely killed in the crash or fire given the low altitude at which the bailout occurred.
