Assigned to the 409th Bomb Sqdn., 93rd Bomb Group as an airplane mechanic on B-24s and Transient Aircraft. He was a mechanic at Flying Central. He accompanied the 93rd from its activation at Barksdale Field, LA in February 1942 until its return from England in June 1945.
Was discharged on Aug. 31, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, IN with all the awards and decorations of 93rd Ground Support personnel.

Born on Jan. 27, 1920 and raised on a family farm just west of Shiloh National Military Park near Michie, TN. Enlisted in the USAAC on Sept. 22, 1941. Started basic training at Camp Shelby, MS. Graduated Class 2A Airplane Mechanics School at Keesler Field, MS in February 1942.
Married his Tennessee sweetheart, Rachel Hurst on June 7, 1942. They had one son Michael, now deceased. Re-enlisted in the USAAF and remained active until May 1965, retired on disability. Taught electronics in Selmer, TN, High School for 10 years, and retired again. Presently active in RV travel club.
