§ Biography

T/Sgt. Morris LaVerne served as flight engineer and top turret gunner aboard B-24J 42-73495 on the 8 April 1944 mission to Brunswick, Germany. He survived the loss of the aircraft when it was shot down over the Island of Schokland in the Ijsselmeer and was captured by German forces.

German prisoner transfer records confirm he was moved to Dulag Luft on 12 April 1944. His next of kin was his brother, Mr. Albert F. LaVerne, of 1765 Burnett Street, Brooklyn, New York.
