Del Guidice bailed out at approximately 17,000 feet, not delaying his jump beyond clearing the slipstream. He could see no other chutes but observed an aircraft explode just before it hit the ground. As he descended near a small village he noticed a passenger train pass directly below him, with passengers hanging out of the windows watching his descent. He came down in a field near a farmhouse; French civilians were already waiting and helped him to his feet, took his chute, and led him to the farmhouse.

After about half an hour a young Frenchman named Robert (approximately 20 years old, from Brou) arrived and became his guide. Robert moved him to a haystack for another half-hour wait, then back to the farmhouse. At dusk Robert took him to a potato warehouse in Brou, considered an unlikely search target, as Germans were patrolling the area. The next morning he was moved to a house where Lt. Walters was also sheltered.

Del Guidice traveled with the group to Paris, where on the second night they stayed at the home of Dr. Alice Willem near the Walters home contact. They spent three nights there, eating with the family. The group was then moved through the Paris evasion network, ultimately departing for Spain. Del Guidice returned to the UK on 24 February 1944. He later recommended that enlisted men traveling through Spain claim to be officers, as enlisted men were imprisoned by Spanish authorities.
