Lloyd Calcut.
The man.
§ Biography
S/Sgt. Lloyd O. Calcut served as a gunner aboard B-24J 42-109618. He was the sole survivor of the crew to be captured; his status on the MACR is annotated EUS (believed to indicate captured/prisoner status) rather than killed in action.
German document EU-3294 (17 November 1944) from Air Base Command Jever specifically identifies Calcut as captured, linking him along with the recovered dead to the Liberator that crashed near Voslapp on 4 November 1944. His identification tag (serial 36182223, T43, O P) was among those recovered. A family address (Fred Calcut, RFD 2, Lachine, Michigan) appears on the identification tag record page.
