§ Biography
Keith K. Compton served as operations officer and deputy commander of the 93rd Bombardment Group during 1942-43. He ran the mission briefing for the group's first combat operation, the October 9, 1942 raid on Lille, and flew as a command pilot on multiple early 93rd missions.
Compton later commanded the 376th Bombardment Group and went on to a senior Air Force career, eventually becoming a lieutenant general and serving as vice commander of Strategic Air Command.
