Assigned to 8th Air Force, 2nd Air Division, 93rd Bomb Group, 329th Sqdn. as flight engineer with rank of tech sergeant. Flew to England in fall of 1943. Killed in action on Dec. 20, 1943. Awarded the Purple Heart.

Born Sept. 19, 1918 in Cleveland, OH. Graduated Lincoln High School June 1936; employed at Kroger Grocery and Baking Co. Attended Penn College (Cleveland State) studying aeronautical engineering. Entered service July 7, 1942. Basic training at Atlantic City; graduated from Bombardier and Gunnery School at Wendover, UT.
After the War
Killed in action Dec. 20, 1943. His twin brother George Tkachuk served with the U.S. Army 75th Infantry Division, 575th Signal Company in the ETO.
