Assigned to 93rd Bomb Group, 409th Sqdn., 2nd Air Division at Hardwick, England as navigator. Flew combat with the 8th Air Force over Europe. Memorable experiences included his first mission to Berlin and a supply drop at 100 feet at the Rhine crossing.
