Assigned to 409th Sqdn., 93rd Bomb Group in October 1943. Flew first five combat missions on B-24D Teggie Ann. Flew several group leads and one air division lead. Completed missions with 8th Air Force on March 23, 1944.

Before and after.
Born Jan. 27, 1920. Joined Army, 9th Infantry Division, Dec. 5, 1940. Transferred to USAAC as aviation cadet July 1942; graduated Midland AAF in April 1943 as bombardier, commissioned second lieutenant. Joined B-24 crew at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ.
After completing missions with 8th Air Force (March 23, 1944), joined 15th Air Force, 449th Group, Italy. Flew lead or deputy lead almost every mission. From May 17 to June 11, 1944, flew 15 missions, nine on consecutive days. Retired 1962 as lieutenant colonel. Decorations included five Air Medals, Purple Heart, and Distinguished Flying Cross. Married Mary Creech, 1944; one son, one grandson. Visits England or Europe annually.
