T/Sgt. Henry C. Loyd Jr. served as a crew member aboard B-24D 42-40609 in the 330th Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group. The aircraft was lost on August 1, 1943 during the low-level mission to the Ploesti oil refineries in Romania. His status was listed as unknown on the MACR.
His surname appears as both 'Lept' and 'Loyd' across OCR versions of the period documents. Next of kin listed was Mrs. Jay Engel (mother), 2421 North 18th Street, Flint, Michigan.
