§ Biography
S/Sgt. G.P. Cheney served as waist gunner on the December 1, 1943 Solingen mission. He bailed out through the camera hatch along with crew members Dawson and Sellers after the aircraft was attacked. He later reported hearsay information regarding the fate of tail gunner Byerman, stating that Byerman appeared to be either unconscious or dead in the tail position when the crew bailed out.
After coming down in Germany, Cheney was seen at Frankfurt-Main with a leg wound on December 8, 1943, according to pilot Keating's account. He survived the war.
