§ Biography

Assigned to 93rd Bomb Group, 409th Bomb Sqdn. as tail gunner on B-24, May 1944. His second mission was D-Day, an overwhelming experience. Over the next 25 missions, targeted industrial railroad marshalling yards and supported ground troops. On his 27th mission, was wounded over Liege, Belgium.

Before the War

Born June 12, 1924 in Sellersville, PA. Drafted into USAAC April 1943. Graduated from Armament and Gunnery Schools, earning staff sergeant rank.

After the War

Received Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Purple Heart. Married Ann Farkas July 1949. Four daughters, one son, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Retired from United States Postal Service; lives in Spring Hill, FL.
