George R. Haynie.
The man.
S/Sgt. George R. Haynie was a crew member on the January 30, 1944 mission to Brunswick, Germany with the 93rd Bomb Group. He completed the Casualty Questionnaire (AFPPA-12) for this MACR. He did not bail out; the aircraft made a successful crash landing south of the Zuider Zee in Holland.
Haynie reported that all ten crew members were in the aircraft when it struck the ground, all unwounded and in apparent good health. All crew members left the vicinity of the crash-landed plane in good condition. He identified the group commander as Fiegel (rank Colonel) and squadron commander as Martin (rank Captain).
Haynie returned to England after the crash landing and subsequently completed the questionnaire. His successful return to duty is implied by his having submitted this report. He had no knowledge of the number of missions flown by Killian or Schultz.
