MACR-2925 Account

1st Lt. Lyle R. Flint (O-684461) served as co-pilot aboard B-24H 41-28228, 409th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group. The aircraft was lost on 5 February 1944 during a mission to Bordeaux, France.

Flint bailed out and was taken prisoner of war. He reported that the plane was under attack by 15-20 enemy fighters (ME-109s and FW-190s) when lost. He noted that four parachutes were observed to open, and the aircraft broke apart in the air.
