S/Sgt. Earl L. Frost served as tail gunner on the 1 August 1943 Ploesti mission. He was reported killed in action following the loss of aircraft 42-40612 to enemy anti-aircraft fire.
Warner's questionnaire lists Frost as burned with the ship. He was among the five crew members found in the burned wreckage southeast of Ploesti and did not bail out before the aircraft crashed. His next of kin was listed as Mrs. Eva M. Frost (mother), Rural Delivery #2, Geneva, New York.
