Born Aug. 20, 1920 in Mills River, NC. Joined USAAC January 1942 in Asheville, NC; sent to Fort Jackson, SC; then Jefferson Barracks, MO. Airplane Mechanics School at Chanute Field, IL; applied for aviation cadet and was eliminated two weeks before graduation. Gunnery training at Tyndall Field, FL; crew training at Tucson, AZ; Alamogordo, NM; Lincoln, NE. Flew from Langley Field, VA to the 8th Air Force.
After the War
Discharged at Fort Bragg, NC, September 1945. Retired.
