2nd Lt. Thomas A. McCarthy (O-735712) served as bombardier aboard B-24H 41-28228, 409th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group. The aircraft was lost on 5 February 1944 during a mission to Bordeaux, France.
McCarthy was among the crew of B-24H 41-28228 when it was lost near Bordeaux. The aircraft was observed to break apart under enemy fighter attack.
