Claude L. Johns.

Sgt. Claude L. Johns was a crew member of B-24 serial 42-99949 assigned to the 328th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group.

Johns was reported missing in action on 21 September 1944 following the mid-air collision over Belgium. Although page-003 of the MACR file listed him among those with MIA status as of April 1945, the May 1945 indorsement changing status to KIA lists only four names (Mullin, Morgan, Ginetti, Picard). His ultimate status is recorded here as KIA based on the overall evidence that all occupants of the subject aircraft were killed.

The R.A.F. report by Captain Pelletier confirmed 8 bodies found completely burnt in the aircraft, and an account of burials listed twelve persons from both aircraft. Burial of victims was made at Flanders Field American Cemetery, Belgium, on 24 September 1944.
