Assigned to 93rd Bomb Group (H) in England. Served as crew chief on B-24 Rage in Haven. Memorable experience: a German fighter plane came out of the sun and strafed the air base, bombing four aircraft.

Before the War
Born Aug. 17, 1921. Enlisted in USAAF on Nov. 9, 1942 at Camp Cook, California. Basic training; Mechanics School; sent to England and assigned to 93rd Bomb Group (H).
After the War
Stayed with 93rd BG until end of war (June 1945). In 1951, enlisted for Korea as motor pool mechanic; discharged August 1952 as corporal. Received Good Conduct Medal, European Campaign Medal, and Presidential Unit Citation. After service, became streetcar conductor; switched to bus driver in 1957; retired in 1982. Married, one daughter.
