The Ship
Hellsadroppin' was piloted by Lieutenant Julian A. Harvey. Returning from a mission to Brest, the aircraft bellied into the mud at Alconbury with its tires shot out and its fuselage riddled by flak. King George VI toured the damaged bomber during his November 13, 1942 visit to the base, and Harvey told him it would be ready for combat again in about three days.
