“Flying Wolves”

Flying Wolves carried engineer John L. Mosier through a run of missions without an abort, en route to completing fifty. On March 3, 1944, Mosier's crew was alerted for the Circus's first attempt at bombing Berlin, only to have their aircraft bog down in snow and mud during taxi, forcing them into a standby Pathfinder ship that likewise failed to get airborne in time. A photograph from the period shows Mosier kneeling among a Flying Wolves crew that included Sergeants Graham, Stan Keller, Syl Korpal, Harry Albright, and Fred Whiteside, with Lieutenants Carter, Condon, and a bombardier named Adams.
