“Exterminator II”

On the December 11, 1943 mission to the shipping targets at Emden, John A. Bogan piloted Exterminator II with John Butler flying as a spare gunner in the tail turret. Butler recorded taking a hit that tore a large hole in a stabilizer, and described a close pass by a Ju-88 that came and went before he could get a shot off. A waist-gunner aboard was struck by flak and fell unconscious onto the camera hatch.
