The Ship

Blasted Event survived Operation Tidal Wave, the low-level raid on the Ploesti oil refineries, Romania, on 1 August 1943, while serving with the 93rd Bomb Group's 329th Bomb Squadron (call letter Q) and later the 409th Bomb Squadron (call letter N).

The aircraft was later transferred to the 406th Bomb Squadron, 801st Bomb Group (call letter R) and modified for Carpetbagger clandestine operations. Its nose wheel collapsed on 24 November 1944, and it was condemned for salvage the same day.
