The Ship

Lieutenant A. Wesley Cable's Beaver's Baby was photographed with its crew on its 30th mission in early September 1944. On the September 18, 1944 Eindhoven supply-drop mission, it flew as deputy lead; when the lead ship was forced to turn back, Cable took over the lead and completed the run despite an engine fire and 20-mm hits, returning on three engines. Later, on the December 11, 1944 mission to Hanau, the aircraft was flown by Lieutenant C.W. Barton, who lost one engine and half power on a second; Barton landed the ship safely on a P-47 strip in Belgium.
