William M. Brown

Enlisted in the USAAC on July 30, 1942 as an aviation cadet. Graduated in December 1943 as a pilot, second lieutenant, Class of 43-K at Lubbock, TX. After four-engine training at Liberal, KS was assigned as B-24 pilot. Picked up crew at Lincoln, NE, then a new B-24-J at Topeka, KS and in July 1944, flew to England via Goose Bay, Labrador and Iceland. Assigned to 93rd Bomb Group, 328th Sqdn. at Hardwick.

Completed a tour of 35 missions. Returned to United States on April 3, 1945. Assigned to Pilot Instructor School and received his pilot instrument instructor certificate on July 27, 1945. Discharged from active duty Nov. 12, 1945. Resigned from Reserves April 1, 1953.

Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters, EAME Ribbon with three Battle Stars and one Overseas Bar.
