A B-24 of the 329th Bomb Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group, departed Hardwick on 24 February 1944 at 0800 hours. The aircraft came down near Urk, Holland at approximately 1500 hours the same day. The pilot, Capt. Gene Leroy Maddocks, successfully evaded capture in Holland. The fates of the remaining crew members were unknown at the time of his interrogation on 10 May 1945.
