After Pearl Harbor, joined USAAF Jan. 1, 1943 at San Antonio, TX. Commissioned second lieutenant, Class 44-B, Houston, TX. Flight training at Jones Field (Bonham, TX), Starkville Flying School, Pratt & Whitney Majors Air Force Flying School (Greenville, TX), Ellington Flying School (Houston, TX), and Liberal, KS (B-24 transition).
