Peter J. Allatt
Allatt trained as a pilot in SEFTC, graduating June 27, 1944 in Class 44-F at George Field, Lawrenceville, IL. He then attended B-24 Transition at Chanute AAF and OTU at Charleston AAF, SC, before flying a B-24 with his crew from Mitchell AAF, NY to England via the northern route.
Attached to the 328th Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group at Hardwick from February through May 1945, he logged 17 missions and occasionally encountered the ME-262. He returned to the States in May 1945. He enrolled in the ORC after release from active duty in October 1945 and flew A-26, C-119, and C-124 aircraft at Stewart AFB, NY. He was activated for the Vietnam incident in 1968 for 18 months and placed on the retired list as major on June 30, 1984, having served 41 years, six months, and 22 days. He was awarded two Air Medals, EAME with stars, AF Longevity, and Vietnam Service medals.
