Henry G. Karpf
S/Sgt. Henry G. Karpf (12129010) served as nose turret gunner. He bailed out third through the nose wheel hatch and was taken prisoner of war. He reported leaving the formation near Abbeville, France.
Karpf completed a casualty questionnaire in which he noted that the evaders from the crew included Lt. Heinke, Lt. Roy Carpenter, T/Sgt. Robert Kujawitz, and T/Sgt. Anthony Paladino. The prisoners included himself, S/Sgt. Michael Shiwarski, F/O Robert Burke, S/Sgt. Oscar Wagelie, and S/Sgt. Arthur Crocker. He also reported that Lt. Heinke was later killed at Tyndall Field, Florida, in August 1945.
