He transferred to aviation cadet training. He graduated in class of 43-J on Nov. 3, 1943 as a second lieutenant. He was assigned to B-24 training at Maxwell Field. Upon completion, he flew their B-24 and crew (via North Atlantic) to England. He joined the 93rd Bomb Group, 330th Bomb Sqdn. based at Hardwick, England in May 1944. He flew 30 missions over Europe, 12 as lead crew. First mission on D-day, last mission on Sept. 18, 1944. Full crew returned to the States in October 1944.
Cable enjoyed the whole experience of being in the Air Force. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and four Air Medals. He was discharged on Oct. 14, 1945 with the rank of first lieutenant.

Arthur W. Cable was born on Oct. 9, 1921 in Mount Vernon, NY. He was drafted into the regular U.S. Army on Sept. 18, 1942 and transferred to the USAAC. He graduated from New England Aircraft School.
