Piloted by Miles R. League, Satan's Sister flew the August 1, 1943 Ploesti raid and returned safely to Libya. On October 9, 1943, flying a mission against the U-boat pens at Danzig, the aircraft took flak damage and lost an engine on the return leg. Unable to make the long trip back to base, League diverted to neutral Sweden and put the aircraft down in a belly landing at Rinkaby airfield. As briefed for such a landing, the crew of 11 set the aircraft on fire before Swedish authorities arrived, and were interned.
