B-24 Liberator lost on 20 June 1944 during a mission departing AAF Station 104. The aircraft was last observed at approximately 16 km north-northeast of Stettin, 1 km northeast of Langenberg.
The aircraft was brought down by enemy anti-aircraft fire. It crashed into swampland at 10:01 a.m. local time. German records (KU 2260) confirmed the crash location and noted the plane as a 100% loss.
German forces from Air Base Headquarters A(O) 6/III Stettin responded to the crash site and confiscated emergency kits, maps, money, compasses, and other equipment from the wreckage. The aircraft wreckage and crew fate were reported to the Interrogation Center West at Oberursel.
