Hoffman's 229-B released at 11:59½ from 22,800 feet on heading 335. Takeoff and landing times were not filled. The crew carried twelve 500-pound GPs and two smoke bombs and dropped all bombs on the secondary with the lead PFF. They reported no flak and no enemy fighters; fighter support was good. 2nd Lt. Ellis I. Fullwiler flew as PFF navigator. The crew noted boat traffic on the Rhine.
