The narrative.
§ This Ship
Bigolin's 837-X released twelve M17s at 12:00 from 23,300 feet on a heading of 342°, dropped on the lead PFF aircraft. The first form, filled while the ship was missing, recorded that they left formation at 12:35 apparently under control, saying over VHF they would land in Belgium. A later observations page says they landed at Brussels: number 2 engine was vibrating badly on the run-in; they held position until after bombs away, then left formation and feathered number 2. A second, handwritten packet dated 10/2/44 is headed Made Emergency Landing and notes Used Purses for Food etc. Takeoff, landing, and sortie-credit boxes were left blank on both forms.
