§ Biography

From the 2nd Air Division Association Yearbook

Graduated as a pilot in Class 43-C. Joined the 389th Bomb Group on September 19, 1943. After completing 39 missions with the 389th and 93rd Bomb Groups he was assigned to the 34th Group, 3rd Air Division, then temporary duty with the 492nd Bomb Group.

Released from active duty as a captain on May 17, 1945. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, two Campaign Stars, and one Presidential Citation.

William A. Berry Jr. was born September 20, 1920 in Portsmouth, VA. He enlisted in the USAAC on March 25, 1942 from Bath, NC.

After the War

Married Betty Goette of Lakeland, FL on May 29, 1943. They had three sons, one granddaughter, and six grandsons.
