The Man Behind the Name
§ Biography
S/Sgt. Stanley E. Necker served as tunnel gunner (ball turret) aboard B-24D 41-23111 on the 9 October 1943 Danzig mission. The MACR lists his name with a transcription artifact ("Necker, Asset, Stanley E.") which is a clerical error; his name is Stanley E. Necker.
Necker was uninjured in the forced landing near Logaby, Sweden, and was interned. He was subsequently returned to duty following the internment period.
