2nd Lt. Samuel G. Jaffe served as navigator-bombardier on B-24J 42-50679, 409th Bomb Squadron, on the 28 January 1945 Dortmund mission. Born 1918, USA. Home address: 1528 Hoe Avenue, New York, New York.
After bombs were released the plane was hit by flak. His escape hatch was inoperative so he made his way to the bomb bay. Captured and held at Dulag Luft West for approximately 100 days before returning to duty. Provided a post-war statement regarding the fate of pilot Lt. Schmoller.
