The Man Behind the Name
Robert L. Phillips served as radio operator with the 330th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group. His father, Mr. James M. Phillips, resided in Woodville, Texas. The MACR lists his rank as Sergeant; a German telegram refers to him as Staff Sergeant.
A German telegram (KU 2260) from Air Port HQ A(O) 6/III Stettin, dated 21 June 1944, reported S/Sgt. Phillips, Robert (serial 18060547) as captured (GEF) following the 20 June 1944 crash near Langenberg, Stettin.
